BEIJING — Chinese tech giant Huawei says it has fired an employee who was arrested by Polish authorities on charges of spying for Beijing.

Huawei Technologies Ltd. said Saturday the allegations against Wang Weijing “have no relation to the company.” A company statement said Wang was fired because the incident “brought Huawei into disrepute,” a violation of his contract.

Polish authorities announced Friday a Huawei director and a Polish cybersecurity expert were accused of carrying out “espionage against Poland.”
