EDMONTON — Alberta Premier Ed Stelmach says he has no idea who the Koch brothers are and neither they nor their company’s lobbyist has spoken to him.

EDMONTON — Alberta Premier Ed Stelmach says he has no idea who the Koch brothers are and neither they nor their company’s lobbyist has spoken to him.

Charles and David Koch own Koch Industries Inc., which is believed to be the largest privately owned company in the United States with several oil refineries in Texas.

The company is alleged to have funded the right-wing U.S. Tea Party and the fight south of the border against climate-change legislation.

On March 15, the company registered to lobby the Alberta government.

Stelmach said at a media availability that reporters can check the government’s website if they want to find out who the billionaires have talked to.

A registration form says a Calgary-based lobbyist for the Kochs approached the departments of Energy, Finance and Enterprise on March 10 in regards to resource development, economic and taxation policies.
