Terry Young has been acclaimed to the commission’s board of directors as the representative for Region 7.

That position was previously held by Kevin Bender, who retired after two years of service.

Young has served on the board of the Alberta Grain Commission and as chairman of the Alberta Barley Commission.

New directors were also chosen for regions 1, 4 and 10.

Kelly McIntyre of Fairview was acclaimed as director for Region 1, while Daryl Tuck of Vegreville and Todd Hames of Marwayne were elected as for regions 4 and 10 respectively.

Young and the other new directors will assume responsibilities on the commission board following the Alberta Canola Producers Commission AGM on Jan. 26 in Edmonton.

The commission board consists of 12 elected directors, with each serving a three-year term.

They are eligible for re-election to a second consecutive term.

The Alberta Canola Producers Commission is a refundable check-off organization that represents 13,000 Alberta canola producers and is active in agronomic research, extension, market development and the formation of government policy.
