Katherina Cummins was spending a lot of time and money training staff at her Body Treats Medi Aesthetics in Red Deer. With the operators of other clinics across Canada in the same situation, she saw an opportunity.

The result is the Medi Aesthetics Institute of Canada, the first provincially licensed school of its kind in Alberta. It’s offering an advanced clinical aesthetic program that will train students in procedures like laser hair removal, ultrasound cellulite treatment, intense pulse light skin treatments, microdermabrasion and diamond abrasion, and velashape advanced cellulite treatment.

Cummins believes the 22-week course will be the most comprehensive of its kind in Canada, with instruction also provided in basic aesthetic services like facials, spray tanning, manicures and pedicures, relaxation massage, waxing, and mineral makeup application.

A perceived need for advanced training in medi aesthetics motivated Cummins to start the Medi Aesthetics Institute.
