GenTex Oilfield Manufacturing Inc. and CARE Industries Ltd. are finalists for 2010 Alberta Export Awards. GenTex is competing in the Manufacturing — Oil and Gas category, while CARE Industries is in the running for the New Exporter Award.

GenTex focuses on hot oil units, heating units, pressure trucks and pump/kill units, and exported about half of its output. It currently has equipment in 17 countries on five continents.

CARE Industries fabricates drilling and service rigs, and through its client Tuscany International Drilling Inc. of Calgary has been shipping a great deal of equipment to South America. Last week, it was named the Red Deer Chamber of Commerce’s Business of the Year in the 16- to 49-employee category.

Organized by the Alberta division of the Canadian Manufacturers and Exporters, the Alberta Export Awards are held to raise awareness of the importance of exports to the provincial economy, and to recognize Alberta’s most successful and innovative exporters and promote them as corporate role models.

Winners of the 2010 awards will be announced Nov. 26 in Calgary.

In addition to Manufacturing — Oil and Gas and New Exporter, the other award categories are Manufacturing – Other, Consumer Products, Sustainability, Professional and Services, Advancing Technologies, Leadership and Exporter of the Year.
