Mike’s Mattress Superstore is closing — at least temporarily.
The bedding retailer is liquidating its stock in anticipation of shutting its doors at the end of January, said owner Mike Calnan. He explained that Auto Value, with whom Mike’s Mattress shares its 6868 Gaetz Ave. premises, wants to take over the entire building.
“His business is so good, they want to expand.”
Calnan plans to resurrect Mike’s Mattress Superstore at another site, and said he’s close to signing a lease for space elsewhere.
“If all goes well, we’ll be open March 1.”
Mike’s Mattress Superstore has been at its current location for nearly five years. Prior to that, it had operated in downtown Red Deer since 1998.
