Realtor honoured by industry

A longtime Central Alberta Realtor has been recognized by the Alberta Real Estate Association.

Dale Russell, broker-owner of Re/Max Real Estate Central Alberta, has received an honorary life membership in the association.

Alberta Real Estate Association CEO Dan Russell said recipients of honorary life memberships are chosen by AREA’s 16-member board of directors, with selections required to be unanimous. They consider candidates’ contributions to the real estate industry as well as their communities, he said.

“Dale is somebody who really stood out, in my view.”

A past-president of and three-time director with the Central Alberta Realtor’s Association, Dale has worked on industry groups and organizations, said Dan. He’s also on Red Deer College’s board of governors.

He operates Re/Max offices in Red Deer, Sylvan Lake, Lacombe and Ponoka.

Also receiving an honorary life membership in the association this year was Barry Hanna, who operates The Real Estate Training Institute in Edmonton. While past-presidents of AREA are given life memberships, recognition of members at large like Dale does not occur every year, said Dan.

Other Central Albertans who have received honorary life memberships in the Alberta Real Estate Association in the past include Dallas McDonald (2003), John Anderson (1999), Dale Trueman (1994) and Allan Edwards (1991).

Alberta Real Estate Association represents 11 real estate boards and 10,500 members across the province.
