When GMC brought out its 2011 3500 HD (Duramax) heavy-duty truck, Kipp Scott GMC general manager Trevar Fischer was faced with a challenge. “The truck is completely rebuilt from the ground up,” said Fischer. “There’s only about two parts on that truck that are the same as last year.” But the body has not changed very much so the trick was how to best showcase the changes. So he turned to Red Deer’s Rick the Welder. The local business designed a frame and stand that can display the truck on its side. That allows customers to get a look at all of the design changes made, including a full box frame that you could never see on the lot. Fischer said he plans to keep the truck in the local showroom until the end of the month and then may put it on display at Bower Place Shopping Centre. The eye-catching display has been drawing a lot of attention, he said.
