TORONTO — Rogers Communications (TSX:RCI.B) is preparing to buy Bounce FM in Edmonton, in the second purchase of a CTV radio station announced this week.

The deal between the two media companies requires approval from Canada’s broadcast regulator. Bounce FM, which operates under the call sign CHBN-FM, is tagged as “Edmonton’s No. 1 music station.”

“Rogers has been active in the Edmonton radio market for four years and we’re keen to expand our local presence,” said Paul Ski, chief executive of Rogers Media’s radio division.

“The acquisition of Bounce will strengthen Rogers’ position in this important young adult demographic and will allow us the opportunity to offer a more enhanced service to both our listeners and our advertisers.”
