Val Soderquist of Red Deer reaches deep into a saskatoon berry tree to get at the plumpest berries as she and her friends Georgette and Gary Murray fill their pails with the tasty berries on Tuesday.
The three spent the evening picking the ripening harvest on the East Hill Saskatoon farm three kilometres east of Red Deer on Highway 11.
The trees, planted in 2002 have been producing the prairie fruit ever since and a U-Pick has been operating on the 3/4 acre site since 2005.
