Severe thunderstorm warnings in effect for Central Alberta

Meteorologists are tracking a severe thunderstorm 20 kilometres west of Olds. This thunderstorm is moving to the northeast at 40 km/h and has the potential to produce large hail, strong wind gusts and heavy rainfall.

Meteorologists are tracking a severe thunderstorm 20 kilometres west of Olds. This thunderstorm is moving to the northeast at 40 km/h and has the potential to produce large hail, strong wind gusts and heavy rainfall.

This is a warning that severe thunderstorms are imminent or occurring in these regions. Remember that some severe thunderstorms produce tornadoes.

Today's Environment Canada forecast calls for 10 to 15 mm of rain and winds of 30 km/h, gusting to 50 km/h.
