Suncor Energy Inc. (TSX:SU) says it reached its 2009 oilsands production target of an average of approximately 291,000 barrels per day.
Suncor, which became Canada’s largest energy company when it merged with Petro-Canada in August, also reported Thursday that its December oilsands production was reduced due to unplanned maintenance activities following a Dec. 15 fire at one of its two upgraders, but still reached 219,000 barrels per day.
Shares in Suncor lost 43 cents to $38.82 in Thursday trading on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
