Sylvan Star Cheese Farm continues to distinguish itself on a national tasting stage.

The Sylvan Lake cheesemaker earned Canadian Champion Cheese honours for one of its entries at the Canadian Cheese Grand Prix in Toronto recently. The winning cheese was Sylvan Star’s herbs and garlic gouda, which topped the field in the Flavoured Cheese with Added Particulate Solids and Flavourings Category.

Three other Sylvan Star cheeses were judged among the top three in their categories.

At the last Canadian Cheese Grand Prix, in 2009, Sylvan Star claimed Canadian Champion Cheese titles in three categories.

The competition is organized by the Dairy Farmers of Canada and attracts entries from across Canada. Judges consider such things as flavour, colour, texture, body and appearance.
