Taco Del Mar opening for business in Rocky

Long for Mexican food but short of time? A solution should present itself late next month when Taco Del Mar opens for business in Rocky Mountain House’s Gateway Crossing. The franchise will be the first in Central Alberta for the Seattle-based fast-food restaurant, which serves hand-rolled burritos and fish tacos. Taco Del Mar will join Shoppers Drug Mart, Warehouse One The Jean Store and Subway sandwich shop at the former site of Will Sinclair High School, near the intersection of Hwy 11 and 52nd Street. Ryan Darragh, leasing and development manager with Ronmor Developers Inc., said his company is close to inking other deals for the six-acre site. Two involve “high profile” businesses that would operate in their own buildings in Gateway Crossing’s first phase, and the other would occupy the balance of the land to the north, which is still to be developed. “We’re into negotiations with someone who would take the entire two acres, and probably become an owner-user,” said Darragh.

It also plans to upgrade the exterior of the industrial building already there. The new building will be constructed on the west side of the lot.
