Double Star Drilling workers manoeuvre a track-mounted drill into place to bore foundation holes for the 30,000-square-foot expansion of the south Red Deer Wal-Mart Tuesday. This enable it to become a company-designated “supercentre” to carry a full range of groceries and have upgraded departments for merchandise like fashion, electronics, and health and beauty products. A Wal-Mart official said recently that the work should be completed by early next year. A building permit issued by the city in June valued the project at $5 million. Located in Southpointe Common, the Wal-Mart store has been operating since 2000.
