Abbey Master Builder and Polar Creek Industries Inc. are developing River Pointe Crossing at 5835 Kerry Wood Dr. — the former site of Harpers Metals. The multi-family project will consist of 86 homes spread over six-, eight- and 10-plex buildings, said Polar Creek president Al Laplante.

Sizes will range from about 900 to 1,150 square feet, he added, with single- and two-storey townhouses available. A show home is expected to be available for viewing by July, said Laplante, with the first units available for possession around Christmas.

River Pointe Crossing is a 50-50 joint venture between Polar Creek and Abbey Master, said Laplante, with Abbey Master the project manager.

Prices start at $213,500, including GST, with the first 30 buyers receiving their choice of a Chevrolet Camaro or Equinox. Prospective buyers were skeptical at first, he acknowledged, with many assuming there was a catch or they would only be eligible for a vehicle draw.

Not so, said Laplante.

“For 213 grand you get yourself a new house and a new car.”

Sales of units in River Pointe Crossing began about two weeks ago and have been “quite strong” he said.
