It is equally outrageous when you find out that this is how much I saved on one purchase by doing an hour’s worth of Internet research and making some phone calls. How this came about is I needed a certain item for a project that we are working on. I had to find 13 pieces of one thing. So I grabbed the trusty phone book a made a few calls. Only to have the prices I was getting back seemed to be really high for such a simple thing. Aluminum sheets, four feet wide by eight feet long, 40,000 thick and pre-painted white.

After getting my first round of price checking done just by using the phone book. The range of quotes I received were so far apart, I knew more research was going to be necessary. So into the office and fire up the computer.

By the time I was done, I had gotten prices ranging from the super low rate of $56 per sheet. To the are-you-kidding-me price of $200 per a sheet. A whopping $144 price difference on the exact same item.

This got me to thinking what is the best deal you have found? Send me an email at slnolan@xplornet.com with th details. Tell me the product you were purchasing, how much you were getting?

The point is, it’s worth the time and effort to make a few calls. I personally do not know anyone who would turn down being paid $1,872 an hour. Would you?
