Five outstanding individuals, and perhaps one of the most celebrated families in all of hockey comprise the 2017 Induction Class for the Alberta Hockey Hall of Fame (AHHF).

Medicine River Wildlife Centre is beyond pleased to partner with Central Alberta Co-op in building their new “Wildlife Homes Playground.” The preparations are underway for the playground and it will be completed early summer of 2018.

Do you volunteer? If so, why do you volunteer? Most people volunteer for the same reason they give: they believe in the cause they are volunteering for and the positive impact it will make on their community.

Sixty-six athletes and twenty-three coaches from Red Deer were among 1200 individuals who participated in the Special Olympics Alberta 2017 Summer Games in Medicine Hat the weekend of July 7th to 9th. Red Deer athletes competed in eight sports including softball, soccer, golf, Bocce, track and field, 5 and 10 pin bowling and Swimming.

Once again, we have the privilege of travelling to Vancouver Island to see the three most beautiful grandchildren in the world, (along with their parents of course). The greatest thing when you only see them once or twice a year is to witness their growth each time you visit. Although we had an inkling of their progress through the use of Skype and phone calls and such, nothing is the same as being able to see them in the flesh.

File this under “Stating the Painfully Obvious:” people are addicted to their cellphones. Really? Um, no shiplap Shakespeare. But once again, there is a new study that tells us exactly what we already know. Anybody who takes time to pull away from their cellphone and look around or a brief moment or two will no doubt agree that people just can’t detach themselves from their phones these days.
