TORONTO — Being Erica is going to try its hand at being American.
ABC has bought the rights to the time-travelling CBC-TV series and plans to create its own version.
The Toronto-based Temple Street Productions says its co-presidents, Ivan Schneeberg and David Fortier, will executive produce.
The duo are also working on a pilot script with Eastwick scribe Maggie Friedman.
The Canadian version stars Erin Karpluk as Erica Strange, a woman who travels through time to relive past regrets to resolve problems in her present.
It’s rare for a Canadian drama to be bought for a U.S. makeover and Temple Street’s executives say they are flattered.
