“Vaudeville for the 21st century” will be brought to the stage when Red Deer College presents That’s Entertainment this weekend.

This year, 45 promising high school band students from all across Central Alberta will join RDC music students for the 7:30 p.m. concert on Saturday, March 24, on the Mainstage at the Arts Centre.

Besides being a showcase of the best RDC student musical performances of the year, high school musicians will perform as an honour choir, rock band, and concert band to start the show.

With classical, jazz, contemporary, solo and ensemble pieces — and everything in between — this omnibus of a concert will offer music for every taste.

Shannon Frizzell, who instructs the Business of Music students who produce That’s Entertainment, said standards such as All of Me, and I Don’t Get Around Much Anymore will be belted out.

There will be musical theatre numbers, as well as comedy skits performed by RDC theatre students, between the musical acts. “People will be all costumed up…” it will be a real variety show, Frizzell added.

Tickets are from the Black Knight Ticket Centre.
