TORONTO — Twelve writers have received honours at this year’s CBC Literary Awards.

The awards accept English and French unpublished entries in three categories, creative non-fiction, poetry and short stories.

The winner in the English creative non-fiction category was The Rise by Marian Botsford Fraser of Toronto, while the runner-up was Quick-quick. Slow. Slow. by Sarah de Leeuw of Prince George, B.C. The French prize was awarded to Flo by Stephane Bigras of Saint-Colomban, Que., while second place went to Au fond by Sylvie Mayrand of Saint-Blaise-sur-Richelieu, Que.

The poetry prize in English went to Michael Langton of Vancouver for Us unclean. In French, the winner was Laurance Ouellet Tremblay of Montreal for etait une bete.

The English short story honour went to Donald Ward of Saskatoon for Badger. In French, the winner was Magnum opus by Phillipe Chartier of Montreal.

The winners will be printed in Air Canada’s enRoute magazine.
