Submissions can be sent to three different galleries

Calling all artists: Three Red Deer galleries are now accepting submissions for future exhibitions.

The Harris-Warke Gallery, upstairs at Sunworks, is calling on anyone wanting to display artwork in 2018. Submission are open to those who produce paintings, sculptures, prints, photography, ceramics, jewelry, textiles — or even literary or culinary art and music: “We are open to an eclectic definition of art.”

Submissions must be received by Feb. 13.

They should include: a detailed exhibition proposal, artist statement, CV, up to 10 digital images and related image list (the gallery retains submissions for its records. Anyone wanting specific materials, ie. a CD or thumbdrive, returned needs to provide a stamped, self-addressed envelope.)

Packages should be dropped off at Sunworks or emailed to

The Kiwanis Gallery, downstairs at the Red Deer Public Library, is also calling on all artists who wish to exhibit two or three-dimensional works in the space, run by the Red Deer Arts Council, in 2018 or 2019. (Artists who have shown in the gallery in the previous two years are not eligible.)

Submissions must be received on paper by the council by March 15 for solo exhibits, two-person exhibits, group exhibits, or curators proposals for any of the above.

Please submit the following: a cover letter containing brief summary of proposed show; project statement on the theme or context of artwork, the media used, and any requirements regarding exhibit installation; an artist statement; CV, biography, up to 20 images of your art, relevant supporting materials.

Exhibition proposals will be examined by a jury, and the submissions kept on file. Paperwork should be mailed or dropped off to Diana Anderson, RDAC co-ordinator for the gallery committee, Red Deer Arts Council, Suite 110, 4818-50th Ave. Red Deer, Alta., T4N 4A3.

Any artist wanting to exhibit in the Corridor Community Gallery, downstairs in the Red Deer Recreation Centre, should call Red Deer Culture Services at 403-309-4617 or email
