Gaga sees humour in dirty tweet

EDMONTON — An off-colour tweet by Lady Gaga during her recent tour stop in Edmonton has ruffled a few feathers in the oil city.

The megastar has posted a picture of the massive “This is Oil Country” sign that runs along the catwalk in the upper levels of the Rexall arena.

The problem was, the “o” in country had been removed to set up a light for the show, making the saying more than a little blue.

The singer added the comment “Holy mother of laughter” to her tweet.

Edmonton’s mayor wasn’t laughing.

Stephen Mandel told a local TV station he thought the joke was in poor taste and reflects more on the artist and her crew than it does the city.

Hilton denied purse containing coke was hers: Vegas police

LAS VEGAS — An arrest report obtained by The Associated Press says Paris Hilton denied owning the purse in which police say they found less than a gram of cocaine after a traffic stop.

A police lieutenant says in the report obtained Monday that the 29-year-old celebrity socialite acknowledged owning lip balm and an asthma medication also found in the purse late Friday when she was pulled over on the Las Vegas Strip.

But she denied the cocaine and purse were hers.

Hilton’s facing a felony drug charge. Her lawyer says he’s not commenting now, but plans to challenge the arrest in court.

Hilton’s boyfriend, 34-year-old Las Vegas nightclub mogul Cy Waits, also was arrested. He’s facing a misdemeanour charge of driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
