The night time arts festival is already held annually in 120 cities throughout the world. On Saturday, Nuit Blanche will kick off from 7 p.m. to midnight in downtown Red Deer.

Organizer Mike Best said entertainment and art sales will take place on the Ross Street Patio, as well as along the back alley behind the Old Courthouse on Ross Street, stretching down to the Cool Beanz coffeehouse bus.

Six local musical groups and six performance artists will perform, and the works of 16 visual artists will be displayed and can be bought from A Whittle Piece of U Gallery, as well as from vendor stands.

The festival is free. Food and refreshments will be available for purchase from vendors, as well as from some businesses that will stay open.

Among the retailers open late on Saturday are Sunworks and its Coconut Room coffeehouse on the second floor, as well as Alta on Ross St.
