Central Albertans have two chances to see country-folk singer Gary Fjellgaard and friends Saskia and Darrel perform this week.

Fjellgaard and friends will entertain at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, at the Century Theatre in Innisfail. Tickets are $20 and are available from Daines Western Shop or the Sears Canada outlet in Innisfail.

On Saturday, the three performers will sing at a 6 p.m. fundraising dinner at the Hoadley Community Hall near Rimbey. Tickets are $30, including cocktails and dinner, and are available by calling Shirley at 1-404-843-6004. The dinner will help pay for upgrades to the community hall.

Fjellgaard has had many successes during a career that’s spanned 30 years and yielded hits such as Somewhere on the Island, The Moon is Out to Get Me and Heroes. In 2005, he was inducted into the Canadian Country Music Hall of Fame and last spring, he completed a tour of The Netherlands, Germany and Switzerland, where his western roots music is as appreciated as other aspects of North America’s cowboy culture.

Saskia and Darrel are a roots music duo who won a 2008 Saskatchewan Country Music Association Award for their CD Laura’s Kitchen.
