Meet-the-artist receptions will be held this Friday evening at four city art galleries:

• The Harris-Warke gallery at the back of the Sunworks store on Ross Street will feature installations by Central Alberta artist Peter Allen. His work, The Burning Project, consists of various burnt materials, such as a melted cellphone in a vial and a charred couch frame hanging on a wall. The reception is from 6 to 8 p.m.

• Gallery IS on 5123 48th Street (Alexander Way) presents Red Deer artist Susan Delaney, 6 to 9 p.m. Her paintings along an aquatic theme are titled Fish Swim.

• The Velvet Olive, with its entry off the alley north of Ross Street, is featuring the paintings of Erin Boake, with the reception starting at 7 p.m.

• The Kiwanis Gallery in the basement of the Red Deer Public Library is showing paintings, drawings and other works by members of the Red Deer Art Club. The reception is from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
