MONTREAL — The 30th anniversary of the Montreal International Jazz Festival will pay tribute to Miles Davis with a series of concerts dedicated to the jazz legend.

Davis will be honoured with Sketches of MD, which will find Kenny Garrett paying tribute with his own compositions, and Miles From India, a project fusing Indian culture with American jazz.

Also, a 50th anniversary celebration of Davis’s Kind of Blue will feature Jimmy Cobb — the last surviving member of the original recording — and his So What Band.

Other performers in the indoor program announced Tuesday for the festival — which runs June 30 to July 12 — include Ornette Coleman, Jeff Beck, Lee Konitz, Kenny Werner, Tony Bennett and Jill Barber.

Trumpeter Wynton Marsalis will open the festival.

Tickets go on sale this Saturday.
