Art connoisseurs will be treated to a variety of meet-the-artist exhibit openings throughout the city:

• The Harris-Warke Gallery is showing The Geography of Things, an exhibit of wall reliefs and sculptural designs by Ellen Dyck, of Swalwell, who creates art out of recycled glass, metal, linoleum and wood. Dyck’s sculptures will open windows “into a bit of magic and mystery.” The show runs from today to April 2. The opening reception will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday at 4924 Ross St.

• Fashion Becomes Art is on at Gallery IS, featuring wearable prints, as well as limited-edition ornamental silkscreen prints by local designer Valerie Turbak, who creates handmade art and clothing. The exhibit is on from Tuesday to March 28. The opening reception is from 6 to 9 p.m. at 5123 48th St. (Alexander Way).

• Four promising students artists will have their drawings, paintings, sketches and ceramic works featured in A Group of Four exhibit at the bilton contemporary art gallery. The exhibition opportunity was created as a learning experience for Red Deer College students and bid on at the Affairs of the Arts 2008 fundraiser. The artworks of Brenda Danbrook, Joan Ann Graves, Donna Herrick, and Mary Haasdyk were selected by a jury from submitted student pieces. The Group of Four exhibit runs to March 13. The opening reception will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday at 4B, 5809 51st Ave.

• The Duck, Duck, Goose exhibit of paintings by Wilson Harrowby opens from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday at The Hub on Ross. It’s being held in conjunction with a house concert featuring Calgary-based Celtic group Tir Na N’og. This ticketed event costs $15 a person or $30 a family from 53rd Street Music or The Hub at 4936 Ross St. Call 403-340-4869 for more information.
