The madcap Cole Porter musical Anything Goes is coming to the stage in Red Deer.

The students of Lindsay Thurber Comprehensive High School are thrilled to bring to life this timeless tale of love and intrigue on board an ocean liner.

The 1934 musical, with music and lyrics by Porter and book by Guy Bolton and P.G. Wodehouse, concerns the ship-board antics that transpire mid-Atlantic, while passengers are sailing from New York to London.

Billy Crocker is a stowaway who’s hopelessly in love with heiress Hope Harcourt, who is engaged to marry Lord Evelyn Oakleigh.

Nightclub singer Reno Sweeney and gangster Moonface Martin both try to assist Billy in his quest to win Hope’s affections.

The musical features some tap dancing and a treasure-trove of golden-age songs, including Anything Goes, You’re the Top, and I Get a Kick Out of You.

The show runs at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday at Red Deer’s Memorial Centre (1:30 p.m. matinee on Saturday). Tickets are $15 from www.eventbrite.ca
