Reality show to be filmed at Maple Leaf Gardens

CBC-TV has scored Maple Leaf Gardens for its upcoming reality series, Battle of the Blades.

TORONTO — CBC-TV has scored Maple Leaf Gardens for its upcoming reality series, Battle of the Blades.

The public broadcaster has confirmed it will broadcast each episode of the fall show at storied venue, which was home to the Leafs until they moved to the Air Canada Centre a decade ago.

Battle of the Blades, debuting Oct. 4, is a seven-week competition between former world-class female figure skaters and NHL players.

Producers say performances will take place on Sundays at the Gardens and the elimination episodes will unfold there on Mondays.

What has been revealed is a new competitor for the show: Four-time Stanley Cup champion Claude Lemieux.

The Buckingham, Que., native replaces Sean Burke, who withdrew from the show.
