The Matchbox gets lottery grant

Red Deer’s newest performing arts space is getting a boost from a $40,000 grant from the Alberta Lottery Fund.

Red Deer’s newest performing arts space is getting a boost from a $40,000 grant from the Alberta Lottery Fund.

“This is a tremendous show of support towards our organization,” said Cynthia Ridge, president of The Matchbox Theatre Foundation, who is appreciative of the financial support.

The lottery grant reinforces the three years of hard work that have gone into making the space “a sustainable and dynamic performing arts venue,” Ridge added.

The Alberta Lottery’s Community Initiatives Program was developed to assist Albertans to enrich the quality of family and community life in the province. Red Deer South MLA Cal Dallas said The Matchbox is worthy of support, as it has a “positive effect on the quality of life in our community.”

The grant will go towards the ongoing operations and development of The Matchbox.
