Jaron Freeman-Fox redefines what the violin can do with a fiddling fusion of bluegrass, Celtic, jazz and Indian music.
Toronto-based Freeman-Fox, winner of two 2014 Canadian Folk Music Awards, will perform at a house concert in Red Deer on Thursday, July 24.
The “violinovator” has been described as “Tom Waits playing the fiddle, backed up by the Mahavishnu Orchestra.”
Freeman-Fox’s music was recorded on an acclaimed album called Jaron Freeman-Fox & The Opposite of Everything, a merger of Indian ragas, klezmer punk, ethereal folk and Latin-fused funk.
Doors for the local concert open at 6 p.m. and the show is at 7:30. Tickets are $30 and include a full Tex-Mex supper (bring your own bottle).
