Women invited to take part in next Vagina Monologues

Women who want to end all violence against women, including rape, genital mutilation and sex slavery, are needed to take part in the next The Vagina Monologues presentation.

Women who want to end all violence against women, including rape, genital mutilation and sex slavery, are needed to take part in the next The Vagina Monologues presentation.

Females between 16 and 116, who feel strongly about raising global awareness about crimes against women, are being sought to read on stage the now world-famous monologues written by Eve Ensler.

Planners and technicians are also being sought for the next production of The Vagina Monologues, set for Feb. 12 and 13 in Red Deer.

Acting experience is not required for monologue readers, so much as having a social conscience.

Women of all ages, sizes, shapes, ethnic and cultural backgrounds can express interest in being part of the 2010 VDay movement by emailing andrea@caans.org.

In a brief letter, “tell us about you, your interest in the project, and why you want to be involved,” said Andrea Lane, the Central Alberta Aids Network Society’s event planner.

The deadline is Nov. 16, with interviews to follow shortly after.
