Elections Canada is encouraging those between 18 to 34 to register to vote ahead of the upcoming election Oct. 21.

About 97 per cent of the Canadian population is already registered to vote.

But only about 70 per cent of those in the 18 to 34 age group are registered, confirms Elections Canada.

Those who are not yet registered can do so on Election day at the polls.

“But if you’re registered before the election, you receive a voter information card in the mail by Oct. 3,” the agency says.

The card lets people know where and when they can vote.

To register or find out more, go online at elections.ca before Oct. 15.
