Construction on a project to expand a roundabout at the north end of Gasoline Alley begins on May 21.

The single-lane roundabout at Leva and Laura Avenues will be expanded to two lines during the seven-week construction project.

The roundabout will remain open but drivers may face lane closures, reduced lane widths and slower speed limits. The project will include relocating streetlights and stormwater catch basins, upgrading pavement and installing new curbs and sidewalks, capped off with landscaping and new road marking.

Construction will take place 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. from Monday through Saturday. To avoid delays, the county recommends drivers get to Gasoline Alley from Highway 2A, turning off at Lantern Street or Mckenzie Road.

Drivers should watch for signs, barricades and flag persons and keep speeds down. For updates, go to www.rdcounty.ca/RoadConstruction
