Parkade construction at Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre will see nearby traffic diverted for the next two months.
Beginning next week, 39th Street will be closed to allow for the delivery and installation of precast concrete components for the parkade's additional levels.
As of Tuesday, 39th Street will be closed between 52nd Avenue and 51st Avenue directly south of the parkade. The parkade exit onto 39th Street will also be closed during this time, with pedestrian traffic being redirected around the parkade to the east and west.
Transit stops along that section of 39th Street will be temporarily relocated to the west. Signage will direct users to alternate stops.
The access to the 39th Street parking lot used by Alberta Health Services staff and volunteers will be replaced with a temporary entrance and exit off 51st Avenue.
Closures are expected to last until mid-November.
Detour signage will be in place to direct traffic during this work. Motorists are asked to please slow down when approaching or driving in the construction areas and to obey all posted signs and personnel directing traffic. Pedestrians are also asked to please keep to posted sidewalks for their safety around construction traffic.
Construction on the $20-million parkade expansion began in April and is expected to take a year to complete. Two more levels will be built, adding 500 more parking spaces.
