Red Deer RCMP are trying to identify a suspect after a cab driver was carjacked and robbed on Thursday.

Police said that at approximately 4:45 p.m., a male requested a taxi from the Mac’s store at 3801 50th St. Once inside the taxi, he threatened the driver with a knife and asked for money.

The driver pulled into the parking lot of the Fas Gas at 4023 50th Street and got out of the car without injury. The suspect drove away in the taxi and then abandoned it. RCMP recovered it nearby shortly afterwards.

The suspect is described as Caucasian, approximately 15-16 years old, 177 to 182 cm (5 ft 10 in to 6 ft) tall, short, shaved brown hair and red marks on his face.

He was wearing a red, black and blue hoodie with the word “Fox” in black and white block letters on the front.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the Red Deer RCMP at 403-343-5575.
