Red Deer City Council curbs proliferation of election signs

Limits put on time span and number of signs that can be posted

Fewer elections signs will be seen in Red Deer over a shorter span in the lead-up to this year’s October municipal election.

City Council passed a bylaw amendment this week that limits the period during which signs can be posted on public property. They can now only be up from nomination day to election day. Also only one election sign per candidate can be posted in each designated sign location.

These previously discussed measures were taken to help deal with the visual distraction of proliferating election signs on Red Deer’s boulevards and street corners.
