RCMP are investigating after the body of a woman was found in a Red Deer apartment on Monday evening.
Red Deer RCMP got a report about 8 p.m. that a woman was dead in an apartment building on 30th Street between Bremner and Gaetz Avenues. When police arrived they found the body of a 21-year-old woman.
After an autopsy, the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner said the woman was a victim of homicide.
Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit has taken over the investigation.
"Although early in the investigation, police believe this was a targeted attack and there is no ongoing risk to the public," said RCMP in a news release.
