The Curling Alberta Boston Pizza Cup is underway at the Stettler Recreation Centre (SRC).
Curling action got under at 1 p.m. on the four sheets in the Blue Arena.
Out of the 12 teams competing, the Jacob Libbus rink squared off against the Jamie King rink on sheet A, the Daniel Humbke rink went head-to-head with the Zach Davies rink on sheet B, the Rob Johnson rink was up against the Ryan Jacques rink on sheet C, and the Daylan Vavrek rink was up against the Benjamin Kiist rink on sheet D.
On sheet B, it was not Davies day, falling to Humbke in eight ends with a final of 8-1. On sheet A, Libbus topped King in eight ends with a final of 10-5. The third game to finish was the Vavrek and Kiist matchup on sheet D with Vavrek topping Kiist 9-6 in 10 ends. The final game to wrap was the Johnson and Jacques match, with Johnson winning the match 7-6 in 10 ends.
With the first draws done, Humbke will move on to play the Evan Van Amsterdam rink, Libbus will move on to play the Cole Adams rink, Vavrek will move on to play the Kevin Koe rink, and Johnson will go on to play Johnson Tao at 7 p.m. in a continuation of the 'A' Event.
As well, the opening ceremonies of the Boston Pizza Cup will be held beginning around 5 p.m.
The Boston Pizza Cup will run through Sunday.
