Charges have been laid following a motor vehicle collision in September which claimed the lives of two youth.
On Sept. 15, 2024, around 1 a.m., Consort RCMP was dispatched to a single-vehicle rollover on Township Road 353.
Several teenage passengers were identified, including the two confirmed fatalities.
Alcohol was believed to be a factor.
On March 4, 2025, the detachment updated the case; one youth individual under the age of 18 had been charged with the collision.
The driver has been charged with:
- Impaired operation of a motor vehicle.
- Impaired operation of a motor vehicle over the legal limit.
- Impaired operation of a motor vehicle causing bodily harm x2.
- Impaired operation of a motor vehicle causing death x2.
- Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing bodily harm x2.
- Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing death x2.
As the offender is under 18, the RCMP is unable to provide any further information.
The youth was charged and released with an upcoming appearance notice at the Alberta Court of Justice in Coronation.
