A sign-free election campaign

Every time those signs are put up, it’s an excuse for people to vandalize them. I don’t agree with them being put up along the streets/roads as it’s an eyesore, for one thing, and sign pollution, for another.

There should be a site in all four corners of the city and one downtown big enough where people can go to view these without being a hindrance. The pictures can only be a certain size (none of these huge honkin’ ones). When not used for elections, the billboards can be utilized as paid advertising.

Or better yet, go door-knocking. If the candidates really want people to see who’s out there, they should be handshaking and letting people who are housebound know the faces of who’s running.

The candidates can put up notices they are going to be in a particular area and this will allow the residents to be able to question the candidates on what their stand is on certain issues.

I would rather vote for someone who makes the effort to campaign in the neighborhoods. I make sure I vote for only the people I want to vote for and not just randomly check boxes off to make sure I have voted for the number of seats.

Let’s do away with those unsightly, ugly, huge, expensive signs and try to make it more ‘green’ campaigning.

I will be exercising my right to vote come Oct 18!
