This Progressive Conservative government is directly responsible for the outrageous charges lopped on to Albertans gas bills.
The administrative and transmission charges, set up and approved by the PC government, are always more than the actual gas consumption charges.
Why?
One reason is our gas supplier (ATCO) provides their employees a defined benefit pension plan, a luxury only monopoly-based companies and governments provide (lucky you, our MLA, at the trough also!).
We, the taxpayers, have no choice but to pay all these charges, including the beautifully constructed Municipal Franchise Fee (10 per cent on our gas bill after all the other charges!).
Just wait until natural gas goes back to $8 a GJ and then look out.
It’s time for we, the middle class, to get off our collective butts and make this province a little more affordable by reining in this government and altering the agreements with the utility providers.
Our only way out I see, besides packing up the wagon, is to vote out this present bovine population and hold the next ones a little more accountable.
