I would like to thank all of the sponsors that helped raise funds for the Red Deer Aboriginal Dance Troupe throughout 2010. The overwhelming community support and extra efforts by so many, gave the Dance Troupe the opportunity to travel to Hamilton Ontario to attend the National Aboriginal Festival, held at Copps Coliseum in November.
Our troupe participated in this cultural event and came away with a tremendous amount of pride and learnings. We were hosted by the Hamilton and Niagara region Native Friendship Centres and shared cultural dances and other native traditions.
We had a dancer from the Red Deer Troupe place second in all of North America in his dance category.
This is a phenomenal achievement to have won. Without the help of our community and sponsors this could not have been possible.
With your continuing support, we hope to develop these dancers even further, and expect them to become community leaders in the future, through exposure to the positive aspects of the aboriginal culture.
The Red Deer Aboriginal Dance Troupe looks forward to entertaining and teaching within our community again in 2011 and thanks all who help make this happen.
