Election violated democracy

Monday’s election was the most obscene violation of democracy that Canada has ever seen.

Monday’s election was the most obscene violation of democracy that Canada has ever seen. Sixty per cent of the electorate voted for the two parties that detest everything Stephen Harper’s reactionary party stands for; yet that totally repudiated party was awarded 60 per cent of the parliamentary seats by the anti-democratic “first past the post” voting system that produced a result that was the diametric opposite of the expressed will of the people.

If we needed further proof that only the single transferable vote can produce a result consistent with the principles of democracy, we now have it.
