The festival has been sponsored by the Red Deer Kiwanis Club since its inception. This is truly a community event and has only been possible with the generous help of organizations, businesses and individuals who give so generously financial or time wise.

The festival requires about 260 volunteers each year and many donate their time year after year.

Businesses, organizations and individuals donate financially to keep the Festival on solid footing and provide the funding for awards.

The Music Teachers of Central Alberta support the Festival by encouraging their students to enter the festival.

Behind the scenes, Joyce Howdle, Val Sherman and office assistant Candes Barnes do the leg work and keep everything running smoothly.

The 47th edition of the Red Deer Festival of the Performing Arts ran from April 26 to 30 this year. During the week-long event, some 6,000 participants performed before 12 adjudicators and live audiences in 12 venues.

The event was held at the Red Deer College and the Living Stones Church. A Performers Showcase was held on May 8, 2010 at the Living Stones Church and highlighted a cross section of the top talent that was at the festival.

The showcase featured 18 performances and the presentation of 111 awards to deserving performers.

On behalf of the participants and everyone involved, we wish to thank the Advocate for its coverage of the festival.
