Re. Aug. 25 Gwynne Dyer column, headlined Al-Megrahi probably innocent:

Thank you to the Red Deer Advocate for publishing Gwynne Dyer’s Aug. 25 column regarding the Scotland’s decision to release Al-Megrahi. It provided a perspective ignored in other mainstream media reports.

As Dyer clearly illustrates, there are generally two sides to most issues. I crave well-informed and balanced views and so do other readers.

In my view, the media is loath to publish views that do not conform to their biases.

I am gob-smacked by one-sided editorials published as unvarnished truths and I am often confused by what the media picks as newsworthy.

As newspaper readership declines, papers further narrow their focus.

My questions often go unanswered.

While the Advocate offers more than its share of one-sided editorials, at least the editors have enough public interest at heart to print excellent externally sourced columnists.

Thank you and please continue.
