Health care declined under superboard

I write you regarding your story regarding the resignation of Gordon Bontje from the Alberta Health Services Board.

I write you regarding your story regarding the resignation of Gordon Bontje from the Alberta Health Services Board.

Bontje is way out of line regarding the rebuilding of the health-care system. In fact, the system was well-organized in the first place.

The system has failed abysmally since the AHS superboard was created.

As the Advocate’s article notes, Bontje is a Red Deer builder and a former chairman of the Red Deer Catholic School Division board. It stretches my imagination as to how he was even considered for board membership.

It is worthy to note that only three of the 14 members of the board have medical experience.

The AHS must be decentralized so that health services can be provided by a health board closest to the people they serve and let the dollars follow the patient.
