High costs a product of deregulation

My last power bill included: administration charge, distribution charge, transmission charge, transmission adjustment rider, balancing pool allocation rider, local access fee, energy charge of $55.22 and GST. Total bill: $114.05.

The last gas bill: administration fee fixed, cost of gas-variable, GST, delivery charge-fixed, delivery charge-variable, rate rider, storage rider, municipal franchise fee, more GST. The actual cost of gas: 7.81 cents. The total bill: $46.55.

All necessary and exciting parts of deregulation!

Although it may not always seem like it , our provincial government representatives are working as hard as they can to ensure ‘gouging’ isn’t happening with utility bills.

I hope.
