What a disappointment on the part of Red Deer Minor Hockey at the final game of the Pee Wee C hockey championship held this past Sunday at the Dawe.
One would think that at a championship game the trophy would be presented to the winners.
Not for these kids. Their game was played on Sunday, as normal, and were the boys ever pumped and ready for it. This is what they work towards all season.
Only at the end of the game, nothing was presented to them.
How is it possible to recreate that image?
Yes a picture says a thousand words, but a trophy in the eyes of 18, 11- and 12-year-olds, the trophy in the picture would say even more to them
Why is it that because they are in rec hockey and not at least B, they are forgotten.
The registration is the same amount for B as it is C; yet, I am sure that their trophies were presented to them.
Also, they had their games played at arenas that can hold onlookers in the stands, ours was held at the dawe.
Yes it has been recently renovated, but still isn’t the proper venue to hold a championship game.
